The Obama Agenda Bogs Down

Not sure what point Fred Barnes is trying to make in is The Obama Agenda Bogs Down article. Fred Barnes is the executive editor of the Weekly Standard. He is weekly commentator for FOX News and they were and have always been Republican supporters. His article dated July 20th 2009 talks about the Editorial on Health Care Reform and the Stimulus package that President Obama got passed, saying that the President and Democrats have made mistakes with them both. It was under my impression that the Stimulus would take some time to take effect. Fred Barnes believes that if the Democrats had “listened” to Republicans on the stimulus then the “economy wouldn’t be any worse.” I really beg to differ on this statement. George W. Bush got us in the mess we’re in at the moment. What, with spending for the war in Iraq, and sending enormous amounts of troops that last I heard did not have “weapons of mass destruction” there in the first place. He claims that President Obama’s approval rating is slipping. That may be, but in my view he is cleaning up a mess that was created by the Republicans. Public desire for Obama to keep pressing on the major issues of our economy, health care and on the deficit. “Majorities still think he is either doing the right amount or should put greater emphasis on each of these issues.” Fred Barnes article I believe is directed toward the Republicans of the world. Fred’s argument on healthcare is also Democratic bashed directed. His statement, “His plan has been to exploit the economic downturn to enact his entire agenda, not just the stimulus”. What agenda is this? President Obama is attempting to rectify errors and blunders produced during the Bush Administration. Fred also states that the republicans would have used the money (stimulus) to spend on tax reforms that would have encouraged economic growth.
